Arashi Shabu Shabu Restaurant at KSL City Mall

Arashi (嵐) literally means storm, however my dinning experience there during my last trip was no where close to any storm, but a wonderful experience with my partner. As some of you may already know, I was in Johor Bahru KSL City Mall during one of my weekends as mentioned in my previous blog entry. We had quite a long day before we chose to settle down in Arashi Shabu Shabu Restaurant (岚日式火鍋) located on level 1 in a spacious corner.

The interior is nicely done-up with soft lights, comfortable sittings, decorative draperies, chic details and relaxing jazz music to complete the superb ambience.

Arashi Shabu Shabu Restaurant

We have individual mini steamboats, good hygiene. We were more
interested in trying more than 1 soup base...

Scan-the-menu time

Their concept

Variety of soup base to choose from

Ala carte meat servings

Try the Combo sets for value

and more Combo sets, spoilt for choice

Our final order

Here's our pre-cooked sumptuous meal!

Seafood Mixed Combo Set for 2 Person (RM 49.90)

Rice rice rice

Close-up 1: (In my personal point of view,) a serving of the best in the menu

Close-up 2: The "Herseys-look-alike" is actually springy fishball with fillling...
not with the normal minced meat filling

Close-up 3: Fresh!

Close-up 4: The Kinchaku (巾着, literally "pouch") is really yummy when the beancurd
-skin (Aburaage, 油揚げ) bag is brimming full of the tasty soup base, must try!

Our Ala-carte order for a portion of beef

I can always do with more meat

We ordered a Miso Broth and a Hot & Spicy Milk Broth. Both are really
yummy, Miso was specially good in bring out the freshness of the seafood.

The assortment of dipping sauce

Right: Spicy 麻辣酱  Left: Tasty 沙茶酱 (I maybe wrong on this
although it was our favorite dip for the meal)

Apart from focusing on the gross-ness of looking at my half-bitten
Herseys-look-alike fishball... look! It's fish roe filling!

The final bowl of elixir soup with all the goodness seeped in from
all the ingredients. My dearest partner decided to combine both
Miso and Hot & Spicy Milk broth to make our Ultimate...

...Yummy Tummy Warming Soup!
(not that it's not delicious on their own)
We happily slurped up all the soup at the end of the meal and basked in blissfulness for a moment... This satisfying meal served in a relaxing restaurant environment set us back approximately SGD 36. I seriously do not mind (in fact I am looking forward) dropping by again. If you are around the area and is wondering on what to eat for your next meal...
